To Whom It May Concern,

Please consider the enclosed resume as an application for _____________.  I am a 2011 graduate of Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH. I graduated with honors and have a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies.  I am very interested in contributing to the process of_______ , I feel as though I can relate to it as well as express and contribute my own ideas.  I’m impressed with the diverse range of new stories your station covers and I feel that this diversity would give me a chance to learn and grow within the field of Journalism.

Writing for my college’s online publication The Exchange has given me the experience that I believe will benefit towards a career with _________.  Being an avid contributor to The Exchange, I have taken the responsibility of assigning articles to writers, editing their articles, writing articles and working as a team with the newspaper staff.   I have had the opportunity to interview numerous people regarding situations on and off campus, and have learned how to express their stories to a variety of audiences. Other skills that I feel I can bring to the position are good time management skills, the ability to work well within a group or individually, and an excellent sense of professionalism.

In addition to contributing to The Exchange, I have participated in two internships at WMUR channel 9 New Hampshire and WCVB channel 5 Boston. These two internships allowed me to learn how a newsroom is run and allowed me to contribute to daily newscasts. During my time at WMUR and WCVB I was able to observe reporters, write scripts and consistently participate in news gathering and research for the stations news stories.  Also, being a tour guide for Franklin Pierce Admissions has helped me to develop communication and people skills.

I am experienced with programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, FrontPage, and Avid Express Pro.

I am anxious and excited to begin a career in Journalism and hope that my credentials and commitment are what you are in search of.  I look forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your consideration.  I can be reached at 508-868-0568 or alycia.brandt21@gmail.com.
